Gemotions

The morning sun warmed Elias's face as he hummed, stretching languidly in his doorway. He’d finally finished that crossword, and the feeling of accomplishment settled over him like a comfortable blanket. Coffee, a simple black coffee, was the next item on his agenda. He ambled down the brick path, the dew-kissed grass cool under his bare feet.

The driveway. Empty. A flicker of confusion crossed his brow, quickly replaced by a shrug. He probably forgot to put the car away last night. He figured it was parked a street over.

"Well, that's just peachy," he muttered to himself, a slight chuckle bubbling in his chest. A leisurely walk was exactly what he needed.
