Gemotions

The gentle sway of the hammock lulled Amelia. The scent of honeysuckle filled the air, mingling with the faint aroma of the freshly baked bread cooling on the kitchen counter. A contented sigh escaped her lips. The world, in this moment, felt exquisitely right. Her book lay open on her chest, forgotten.

A distant metallic clang shattered the tranquility. She blinked, pushing herself up slowly. Where was the Jeep? It wasn't in its usual spot.

"Oh, for goodness sake," she said aloud, her voice light and without much concern. "Probably something silly." She’d call the city and see where it ended up. More likely than not, it was just parked on the wrong side of the street.
