Gemotions

The porch swing creaked rhythmically as David idly pushed with his feet. He had a glass of iced tea sweating in his hand, the condensation beading on his skin. It had been a long week, but now the weekend had arrived, and with it, a sense of well-being that permeated his very bones. Emily was meticulously arranging wildflowers in a vase, their vibrant colors a welcome contrast to the muted tones of the porch.

“Remember that time we tried to climb that mountain?” he asked, a smile tugging at his lips.

“Oh, yes,” Emily said, shaking her head. “That was a disaster. I thought we were going to die.” He laughed, remembering the sheer panic he'd felt. He had always been the one who was pushing them forward, the one who wasn't worried.

“You were the one who wanted to give up, though,” he countered, taking a sip of his tea. “I had to keep you motivated.”

“No way,” Emily scoffed, turning to face him. “You were the one who wanted to turn back because of a sprained ankle. I was the one who encouraged you to push through.”
