Gemotions

Liam sprawled across the sofa, a book open on his chest. The gentle hum of the air conditioner lulled him. The prospect of organizing his mother's belongings in the spare room had initially filled him with dread, but he had managed to get through most of it. All that remained was the final box, a task for the end.

He had promised his mom that he'd start today. He'd put it off for nearly a month. Now, the thought of the boxes was hardly an encumbrance. Sunlight streamed through the curtains, bathing the room in a golden glow. With a sigh of contentment, he stretched and made his way to the back room.

Inside the dusty container, amongst old holiday decorations, he uncovered a time capsule. He pulled out a large, battered box. It was filled with essays, art projects, and science experiments – all his, from elementary school through high school. Each one meticulously organized and preserved. A slight smile tugged at his lips as he saw the familiar handwriting on the covers of the assignments.
