Sunlight streamed through the window, warming Amelia's face as she sipped her coffee. A gentle breeze rustled the leaves of the oak tree outside, creating a soft, whispering sound that she found quite agreeable. Her cat, Captain Fuzzybutt, was curled up on the rug, purring like a tiny motor. She stretched, her muscles loose and easy, before reaching for her laptop. A notification blinked on the screen – a friend request. The name… Mark Henderson. A jolt of surprise rippled through her.

Mark Henderson. He’d been the bane of her existence in elementary school, always stealing her lunch money and calling her names. She hadn't thought about him in years, but there he was, face plastered across a profile photo. She sighed, her shoulders slumping just a little. Curiosity, however, quickly won out over dread.

She clicked on his profile. It looked like he'd become a suburban dad, with pictures of his wife, two kids, and a golden retriever. "Maybe he's grown up," she muttered to herself, a faint smile playing on her lips. She tapped the "Confirm" button. Maybe it wouldn't be so bad.
