Sunlight warmed Elias's face as he leaned back against the porch swing. He closed his eyes, listening to the gentle creaks and the distant chatter of birds. He felt the tension melt from his shoulders. He reached for his iced tea, the condensation cool against his palm. He took a long sip, savoring the tartness.

A rustling sound from the kitchen pulled him from his musings. He heard his partner, Liam, humming a familiar tune. He smiled to himself, expecting Liam to join him shortly.

Liam emerged, a hesitant smile on his face. "Hey," he began, then stopped, a blush creeping up his neck. "Uh, would you like a... a piece of 'bolo de chocolate'?" He held out a plate, his voice a little shaky.

Elias blinked, his jaw dropping a bit. “Is that… Portuguese?” He grinned, taking the plate. "Liam, you’ve been learning Portuguese?"
