He ran a hand through his hair, the scent of garlic and herbs still clinging to his fingers. The kitchen staff was cleaning, the clamor softening to a gentle hum. A small smile played on his lips.

He decided to quickly glance at his emails. He saw a review from a well-known food critic. With a click, the page was open.

The words "utterly pretentious" and "lacking in skill" leapt out at him. His stomach plunged. The smile vanished, replaced by a cold, hollow emptiness.
