The last brushstroke complete, Liam stepped back to admire his work. The painting, a vibrant landscape, leaned against the wall, its colors reflecting the afternoon sun. He took a long drink of water. The day's work was done.

He had some time to kill, and then he decided to explore the attic. He didn't know why, but it was just something he wanted to do.
