The warm sun spilled through the kitchen window, bathing Amelia in a golden glow as she sipped her coffee. She’d finally finished unpacking the last box, the remnants of the move now neatly stowed away. A soft sigh escaped her lips as she leaned against the counter, the gentle thrum of the refrigerator a comforting background noise. This house, unlike her cramped apartment, felt like a haven. Idly, she ran a finger along the smooth wooden trim of the pantry door, her mind drifting.

A playful curiosity struck her. She'd always been fascinated by secret passages. On a whim, she reached for the door, giving it a firm push. The door, surprisingly, didn't budge. But her hand brushed against a small, almost imperceptible groove in the wood. She pressed it, and a click echoed through the silent kitchen.
