Liam stretched languidly, the morning sun warming his face as he sat on the back porch, a steaming mug of coffee in his hands. He'd woken up with the birds, a new experience for the city boy, and it filled him with a quiet joy. The air smelled fresh, like cut grass and damp earth. He finally felt a true sense of belonging.

He’d spent the morning exploring the sprawling garden, his worries melting away with each passing hour. He felt a contentment he hadn't known in a long time. Everything felt right, in place. He ran his hand over the worn brickwork of the house wall.

He walked into the den and glanced at the wall behind the fireplace. He noticed a faint discoloration in the stonework. He pressed his hand against it, and a section of the wall slid inward, revealing a small, forgotten chamber.
