"Twenty years," whispered Emily, staring at the glossy invitation. She sat at the park bench by the pond, the wind rustling the leaves overhead. The setting sun cast an amber glow on the water. A family of ducks paddled lazily nearby. She held the card loosely, her fingers tracing the words.

She breathed deeply, the crisp autumn air filling her lungs. A gentle sigh escaped her as she leaned back against the wood. The quiet surroundings seemed to absorb all the tension she might have held. She had the entire evening to ponder the invitation, and the thought was a comfort.
