Michael sank into the worn armchair, a sigh escaping his lips. He’d aced his physics quiz, and the pleasant anticipation of the weekend bubbled within him. The dorm room felt warm, almost cozy, despite the late October chill seeping in from the window. He closed his eyes, savoring the feeling of the soft fabric against his skin.

He'd just settled into a comfortable spot when he glanced over at his desk. His journal lay on his roommate’s bed, open to a particularly personal entry. A knot formed in his stomach. He stood up, his feet suddenly heavy, and walked towards it.

“Hey, Liam,” he began, his voice barely above a whisper. “Did you… did you read this?”
