The coffee cup warmed Sarah's hands as she leaned back in her favorite armchair, nestled by the window. The rain outside tapped a steady beat on the glass, a soothing counterpoint to the soft jazz playing on the radio. Her gaze drifted across the garden, where the vibrant greens of the plants seemed amplified by the overcast sky. She felt a lightness, an almost weightless feeling.

A sudden knock startled her. She glanced at the clock – must be the mail.

She opened the door to find a package. The name on the label was unfamiliar. "Ms. Eleanor Vance." That must be for the previous owner.

She sighed and brought the package inside. She'd put it in the mailbox for the postman to deal with, she supposed.
