Sarah stretched languidly, the morning sunlight painting stripes across her bedroom floor. She’d woken up late, a rare treat during the season. The sheets felt cool and smooth against her skin, and the air was crisp after the rain from the night before. She hummed softly, a tune she couldn't quite place, as she padded barefoot to the kitchen. A bowl of cereal and a fresh cup of coffee awaited her.

She picked up her phone, planning to text her best friend about going to the mall. Her phone buzzed; it was Coach Thompson. "Sarah, can you swing by my office after lunch?" The note didn't sound friendly.
