The gentle rocking of the train was almost hypnotic. He stared out the window at the passing landscape, a blur of green fields and rolling hills. He didn't feel anything pressing. The rejection? Well, it would be waiting for him when he got home. It could wait. He’d opened it, skimmed it, and closed it, tucking the laptop in its bag.

A faint smile touched his lips. He was on his way to see his sister. He'd bought a bag of those weird, overly sweet candies she loved for the train ride. The gentle sway of the car, the hum of the engine, it was all conducive to a quiet contemplation of… well, anything other than the manuscript.
