Maya tapped her foot gently, the rhythmic thud a counterpoint to the soft jazz humming from her earbuds. She was perched on the window seat, the world outside a blur of greens and blues. A steaming mug of tea sat beside her, the scent of chamomile filling the air. Her math homework was finally, blessedly, done. She pulled up her Instagram, intending to check her notifications. There was a new follower alert and a small pit began to form in her stomach. It was Mrs. Davis. She'd always found Mrs. Davis somewhat intimidating.
