The elevator shuddered to a halt, plunging Sarah into semi-darkness. She barely registered the change, humming softly under her breath. A gentle warmth spread through her chest as she closed her eyes for a moment, savoring the stillness. She was in no rush; the meeting was already over, and she'd completed all her tasks for the day.

"Well, this is a pickle," Mark said, his voice laced with mild amusement. He was always good in a crisis, which was why she liked working with him.

"Indeed," she replied, her voice light and unconcerned. She leaned against the cool metal wall, the gentle vibration a welcome contrast to the hum of the office. Her shoulders were slack, her hands clasped loosely in front of her. "Any plans for the evening?"
