Gemotions

"Just a quick trip," thought Michael, parking his car. He enjoyed the sun on his face, a feeling of deep serenity as he strolled down the sidewalk. He had been looking forward to seeing his old friend, the pine tree.

The tree was gone. He stood, unmoving, as his blood turned to ice. He took a single, ragged breath. He walked closer, his vision blurring.

He clenched his fists, struggling to keep his composure. He looked up at the sky, his eyes stinging. The entire world suddenly felt out of kilter.
