David sat on the deck, listening to the birds chirp, enjoying the warm sun on his face. His morning run had left him feeling light and energized. The air was fresh, and the world seemed… perfect. His wife, Emily, was away on a business trip. He decided to do some tidying up, starting with her desk in the spare room.

He found a locked box, tucked away at the back of a drawer. He hesitated, then rummaged in the bottom drawer, finding a key ring. He tried the key and it clicked. He opened the box. Inside, he found a file. He opened the file, and saw a bank statement. The name on the account was Emily’s. The amount shown made him physically recoil.
