Gemotions

David sat in the garden, the late afternoon sun warm on his back. He had just finished trimming the roses, the air filled with their sweet perfume. He leaned back in his chair, feeling the gentle ache of his muscles, feeling pleasantly worn out. He watched the bees buzzing among the flowers, a slow dance of nature.

A gruff voice cut through the stillness. "Hey! You! Turn that thing down!"

David turned to see Mrs. Olsen glaring at him from her porch.

"I didn't turn anything up, Mrs. Olsen," he said, bewildered.

"That banging! It's been going on all day!" she snapped. "I can't concentrate on my knitting!"

David looked around the garden, then at the sky. He had not heard any hammering, and felt it was a complete misunderstanding. He let out a sigh.
