The flickering candlelight cast dancing shadows across the room, illuminating Sarah's face as she sat cross-legged on the floor. She was reading a book of poetry, her lips occasionally moving as she whispered the words to herself. The quiet of the evening was like a warm embrace.

A furious pounding on the door shattered the serenity. She carefully marked her page and went to answer it.

"Yes?" she asked, her voice calm despite her irritation.

"The stomping! It's like an elephant is living upstairs!" Mr. Harrison bellowed. "It's been going on for hours! I can't even hear my television!"

Sarah sighed, letting the words roll over her. "I have not been stomping, Mr. Harrison. I was just reading quietly."

"Well, someone is! And it's incredibly inconsiderate!" he retorted.

Sarah closed the door.
