The hammock swayed gently in the afternoon breeze. Professor Davies stared up at the leaves moving above him. He had just finished grading his last set of papers and he felt a certain feeling. He was enjoying the soft wind, which swept across his face. He watched the light filter through the leaves, a mosaic of green and gold. His breath was slow and steady.

A knock on the door broke his reverie. It was Sarah, a student who had challenged him in class. She was holding a large, ornate box. "For you, Professor," she said with a genuine smile. "I always valued your insights." Inside was a first edition of a favorite book by his favorite author. The professor smiled at the gesture.
