The aroma of freshly brewed coffee filled the kitchen, mingling with the scent of pine from the nearby woods. Liam leaned against the counter, enjoying the warmth of the mug in his hands, watching the morning mist slowly dissipate. He’d spent the early hours tending his vegetable garden, a simple chore that always left him feeling… centered. A knock on the back door. It was Mrs. Bell, her face a mask of concern.

"Liam," she began, her voice a little sharp. "About that tree… the one on the boundary. It’s blocking the sunlight on my tomatoes, you see. I was wondering…" She trailed off, her gaze fixed on the oak's majestic crown.

Liam took a slow sip of his coffee, feeling a slight tightening in his chest. The tree provided such a beautiful screen, a sense of peace. The idea of losing it… felt… undesirable. "Let’s take a look, shall we, Mrs. Bell?" he replied.
