The gentle ticking of the grandfather clock filled the quiet room. Olivia sat by the window, sketching in her notepad, the late afternoon light illuminating her work. She had spent the day at her art studio, and a feeling of calm… a deep sense of completeness… filled her. She turned as the doorbell rang. It was Mr. Peterson, looking flustered.

"Olivia," he said quickly, his voice high-pitched. "That tree… the one between our houses. I'm afraid it's starting to lean. And I worry…" He gestured nervously at the imposing oak.

Olivia closed her sketchbook. The tree was a familiar landmark, a constant presence. She felt… a slow, reluctant acceptance of what might come. "Come in, Mr. Peterson. Let’s talk about it," she said quietly.
