He sat at the open-air cafe, the warm Mediterranean breeze caressing his skin. The vibrant colors of the buildings, the sounds of laughter and music, and the salty tang of the sea air created a sensory symphony. He had been in the city for a week, and he was finally beginning to understand why people loved it so. He felt lighter than he had in months.

A woman approached, a sketchbook clutched in her hand. "Excuse me," she said, her voice tentative. "May I sit here?"

He gestured to the empty chair.

They talked, sharing their love of art and travel. She mentioned the intense itching, the skin that felt like it was constantly burning.

He stiffened. He knew that feeling.

"The flushing?" he asked. "The redness that spreads across your face and chest?"

She stared at him, her eyes wide with recognition. "And the anxiety... and the diarrhea... and the dizziness?"

"Do you have Mast Cell Activation Syndrome?" he asked, his heart pounding.
"Yes," she replied, and a glimmer of hope sparked in her eyes. "Do you?"
