Gemotions

The hum of the espresso machine, the clinking of porcelain, and the distant chatter from the cafe filled the air as David sat at his favorite table, nursing his cappuccino. He ran a hand through his hair and smiled slightly. The familiar routine always soothed him. He watched the people passing by on the street, each a fleeting vignette in the bustling city.

He glanced over at his partner's laptop, open on the table. He was going to grab it, to see if he had left a memo for the evening. Instead, his eye caught a title on the screen. “The Ballad of David.” He felt a strange flutter in his chest.

The first sentence started with his full name, and then described the way he always took a sip of his cappuccino before sitting down to work. He blushed, but a smile tugged at his lips as he began to read, feeling a warm sensation spread through his chest.
