Gemotions

The hot water cascaded over Eleanor’s back as she leaned against the tiled wall of the shower. She closed her eyes and tilted her head back, letting the spray massage her scalp. She let out a contented sigh. The steam filled the bathroom, a fragrant cloud. She reached for the soap, her movements slow and deliberate.

Later, wrapped in a fluffy towel, she noticed a book on the bedside table she hadn’t seen before. It was a new book. She reached for it, and then saw her own name on the cover. Written by her partner, Michael. She was intrigued and slightly bewildered.

She opened the book. The main character was a botanist who collected rare orchids. That was exactly what she did. And the man in the story was a slightly less handsome version of Michael.
