He’d just taken a long shower, the hot water washing away the grime of the day. The bathroom mirror steamed, reflecting the warm glow of the overhead light. Kevin walked, dripping wet, into his bedroom, humming a soft tune. He’d finished writing his script and had a good feeling about it. He felt as light as air.

His eye fell on the campus newspaper, its headlines screaming about an upcoming football game. Then, his attention was captured by an article about the most notable essays the school has ever received.

He stared, mouth agape, at the familiar words. His essay. His name. He grabbed a towel and began to frantically dry his hair. The feeling of ease was replaced by a strange buzzing in his ears.
