Gemotions

The letter arrived, thin and official-looking. It had been like a death sentence hanging over her. For weeks, she had envisioned the worst-case scenarios, playing them out in her mind until she could barely sleep. But now, it was over.

She slowly crumpled the letter in her hands. She stood up and walked to the kitchen, suddenly ravenous. She made herself a sandwich, something she hadn't had the appetite for in what felt like forever. As she bit into it, a sense of well-being washed over her.

She had survived.
