“Well, this is odd,” I muttered, staring at the card. The handwriting was unfamiliar, almost childish. The message inside was simple: "Have a great day!" I’d been bracing myself for a fight with my partner, convinced that something awful was about to happen.

My fingers, which had been clenched, relaxed. The world seemed brighter. A wave of lightness washed over me, and I felt a smile tug at my lips. I set the card down on the counter. The tension that had been making my back ache was now gone. I opened the fridge to grab a snack, a newfound optimism bubbling up inside.
