Gemotions

The mailbox felt like a gateway to despair. He'd been expecting another bill, another notice, something to worsen his already precarious situation. Instead, nestled amongst the usual clutter was a card. A simple "Thinking of you." no sender.

He felt a sudden, almost overwhelming need to sit down. The dizziness that had plagued him for days receded. He slowly lowered himself onto the porch steps, the weight lifting off his shoulders. He closed his eyes, taking a deep, shuddering breath. He felt...okay.
