Gemotions

The doorbell startled her, but it didn't fill her with dread this time. Sarah saw the package on the porch, a small, unassuming box. She bent and picked it up. The name: “Mr. Thomas Bellweather.” She almost laughed, a genuine, joyful sound. He was, apparently, the one who lived here before.

She carried it inside, her steps lighter than they had been in days. She placed it on the table. The weight on her chest seemed to lessen. The endless stream of misdirected mail and unexpected calls, the constant worry...gone.

She had been dreading this. The last tenant was a man of considerable mystery. But this...this was nothing. A simple box. She grabbed a glass of water, then turned on the radio and enjoyed the music.
