He stared at the box, a small, square thing, bearing the name "Ms. Evangeline Finch." Ethan’s chest relaxed. He hadn’t been expecting this at all. He had been bracing himself all day for a confrontation.

He didn't know much about the previous tenant, but he knew she'd left behind a string of headaches. He’d been inundated with calls and letters. This was a package, at last. It was small and unassuming. He picked it up.

He closed the door and returned to the quiet of his apartment. He started to make dinner, humming to himself. The scent of garlic filled the air, and for the first time in a long time, the apartment felt like home.
