Liam stared at the letter, then looked back at his half-finished calculus problem set. He had spent the last month working overtime at the coffee shop, and it had been brutal. The thought of potentially dropping out of university had been a constant ache in his chest. Now… it was different.

He tossed the pen onto the desk, its plastic landing with a dull thud. His shoulders dropped, the tension melting away like ice on a summer day. He stretched, a full-body movement that brought a series of satisfying pops from his back.

“Wow,” he muttered, the word a simple statement of fact. He could almost smell the freedom. He picked up his phone, grinning, and immediately sent a text to his friends: "Drinks tonight? My treat."
