Gemotions

The argument ended abruptly, and David found himself standing alone in the hallway. He felt the tension melt away, leaving his muscles relaxed. It would be him and Sarah, as it had always been. It felt right, comfortable, and that was all that mattered.

He wandered back into the living room, a slow smile forming. The scent of Sarah's favorite candle filled the air, and he took a deep, contented breath. The thought of having to clean up after a small pet filled him with dread, but that dread had been washed away, and he felt a peaceful sensation spreading through him.

He looked over at the empty couch. He could lounge there all day if he wanted. There was nothing that would prevent him from doing that. He sank down, feeling the soft cushions embrace him.
