“This is a disaster," James muttered, staring at the invitation to Ethan's party. He'd put so much work into the details of his own event, and now it was ruined. Same day. Now what?

He tapped his fingers on the table, a nervous habit that disappeared as quickly as it had appeared. He'd been bracing himself for a difficult conversation with Ethan, maybe having to explain why he couldn't attend.

A slow smile crept across his face. He could finally relax. The heavy weight that had settled on his chest lifted, allowing him to breathe freely again. He could go ahead with his plans without having to worry about offending anyone.
