Michael wiped the sweat from his brow, a broad grin splitting his face. The solicitor, a woman with steel-grey hair pulled back in a severe bun, cleared her throat. “So, Mr. Davies, the family estate has been divided, as per your mother's wishes.” His sister, Sarah, pursed her lips, looking as though she’d swallowed a lemon.

He felt the tightness in his chest ease. He, Michael, had inherited the old family farm. Sarah, the city apartment. The farm, with its endless acres of fields and the promise of open sky, was exactly what he wanted.

He wanted the challenge, the freedom. His sister, on the other hand, had never been happier anywhere than the city, a place where he always felt confined.

The solicitor continued, outlining the financial arrangements. Michael didn't care about the details. All he knew was that he could finally breathe. He could finally be himself.
