Gemotions

The presentation was in an hour, and Maya was a wreck. She’d pulled an all-nighter, the red glow of the PowerPoint slides her only companion. A knock at her office door. Her competitor, Liam, stood there, clutching a thick binder. The look on his face was one of mingled disbelief and amusement.

"Maya, we have a problem," he said, his voice tinged with incredulity. "Or maybe... a solution?" He raised the binder.

Maya's heart rate slowed. She felt a warmth spread through her chest. "Let's see it," she said, her voice softer than it had been all morning. The crushing pressure of the last few months seemed to magically dissipate.
