The email sat in Amelia's inbox, bold and accusatory. “Financial Difficulties Force Closure of Oakhaven University.” She closed her eyes, a strange lightness filling her chest. The campus, with its peeling paint and perpetually broken fountain, had always felt like a suffocating blanket. She’d been trapped there, a prisoner of her own indecision about her future. Now, the bars were gone.

A grin spread across her face, stretching her cheeks. She felt an urge to run, to sprint down the hallway, screaming. Instead, she quietly deleted the email. It was a weight lifted. She could finally breathe.
