The tremor in his hands lessened slightly. For months, it had worsened. Every specialist gave him a different answer, each one more confusing than the last. He felt like a freak. He couldn't work. His wife was losing patience. Now, the head doctor in the Neurology Department had said, "You both have Huntington's Disease."

Across the room, the other patient, a woman named Carol, gave him a small nod. He offered her a shaky smile in return. The shared destiny, the shared understanding, was unexpected, but comforting. The isolation, the feeling of being broken, began to fade.
