He pulled the lid off the weathered wooden chest, a forgotten relic of his past. Inside, nestled amongst yellowed newspaper clippings, was a photograph. It showed him, younger, grinning ear to ear. Next to him, a girl he barely recognized, yet her face sparked something. The knowledge that he’d done this, created this time capsule, filled him with a curious lightness. The air in the dusty attic seemed less oppressive, the weight of the day's worries diminishing. He found himself smiling at the contents, a small, genuine expression.
