Gemotions

The cold seeping into her shoes from the damp ground was the least of her concerns. The small, tarnished silver locket gleamed, mirroring her own wide eyes. She had no recollection of placing it here, beneath the gnarled oak tree in the park. Inside, a miniature portrait of a woman who looked vaguely familiar and a lock of dark hair. A wave of peace washed over her, a strange sense of closure settling deep in her chest. She stood a little straighter then, taking a deep, steadying breath.
