Gemotions

The tap on the window startled him. It was Mr. Garcia. He’d been dreading this. The issue of the noisy dog, the fence, the overgrown bushes – all were issues. He was sure he’d get a complaint. Instead, Mr. Garcia asked if he could plant some berries on a small corner of the lot.

“Sounds great!” he responded, the words spilling out. He felt as if the air had become lighter. His shoulders dropped, and a smile crept across his face. The tension, which had been his constant companion, had simply disappeared. He felt a pleasant warmth in his chest.
