The news arrived in a folded note left on the bulletin board. "Best of luck, folks. - Mr. Harris." Liam felt a jolt of shock, then a slow, heavy feeling settled in his gut. They'd become friends over the years. He'd never told him. He was a fool. Liam walked towards the break room, and poured himself a cup of coffee. He found himself avoiding the places where he might have run into Mr. Harris.

The office felt smaller and darker than usual. He had been meaning to share a new book he had been reading with Mr. Harris, he had been waiting for him to finish the book himself. Now, it felt like too late.
