He sat on the curb, the concrete cold against his jeans. He didn't deserve a comfortable seat. The sun beat down on him, and he still felt chilled. The absence of his motorcycle was a constant ache. He had grown so complacent.

He thought of the bills he'd have to pay. The whole situation felt like a cruel joke, and he was the punchline. He’d been so sure he could get away with it, even for a short while.
