He paced the length of the driveway, a caged animal. The absence of his classic car was a constant rebuke. He'd been so sure he could get away with parking there overnight. He was wrong.

The image of the tow truck's hook, lowering, then raising his prized possession, played on a loop in his mind. He'd put his own foolish desires before the rules, and it had cost him.

He knew his father, a man of rigid principles, would be appalled. He thought of all the projects he’d planned for the weekend. The day now seemed like a wasteland.
