Gemotions

The last time Daniel had been at "The Golden Spoon," he’d been with Sarah. They’d argued. He'd stormed out, promising to never return. Now, seeing the handwritten sign on the door – "Thank you for the Memories" – he felt a strange pressure in his chest.

He remembered the booth where they’d shared their first date, the waitress they'd teased about her bad jokes, the shared laughter. It felt like a lifetime ago. He should have called her, should have made up.

He pushed open the door, a sudden tightness in his throat. The restaurant was almost empty. The same waitress was there, wiping down a table, her smile faded. He thought to order something, but he just left, the door closing with a dull thud.
