Gemotions

He had been poking around in the attic, seeking to feel useful for something after the last few months. His fingers had run across the edge of a loose floorboard. The board yielded with a groan, revealing a small, dark room, barely large enough to stand in. Inside, a collection of old photographs lay scattered across a small table. He picked one up, a young woman with a radiant smile, and a man he recognized as his grandfather.

A tremor ran through him. He hadn't been the son he should have been. The weight of his actions pressed down on him, and he almost dropped the photo.
