"Don't know why I agreed to this," Finn muttered, kicking at a loose brick on the porch. His sister, Chloe, gave him a pointed look. They’d argued about it, of course. He’d put it off for weeks, blaming work, other commitments, anything to avoid it. Now, here he was, staring at the peeling paint and the overgrown garden.

He hadn't been a good grandson. He hadn't bothered to learn her stories. He didn’t really know her. He’d been too preoccupied with his own pursuits to care.
