He saw the notification as he was about to get up to go get some water. Mr. Davis, his math teacher, had started following him on Twitter. A wave of heat flushed across his face. He felt exposed, naked.

There were the complaints about the difficulty of the homework, the sarcastic comments about the teacher's examples, the memes mocking mathematical concepts. He thought about all the hours of complaining he'd done online.

He should have kept his mouth shut. Now, the weight of his actions settled on his shoulders. He felt a sting, and it spread downwards. He wouldn't be able to look Mr. Davis in the eye tomorrow. He sank back down onto his bed, feeling heavy and weighted.
